Our Trip to Palmyra, NY
While Bart had a short Fall Break from classes, we were able to go on a fun trip to Palmyra with Bart's parents. We had such a fun time. I was a little nervous taking a 5-week old baby on a 7-hour road trip, across three states, but she did great. I was thankful that everyone was being patient as we stopped every few hours so Whitney could eat. Now, she is totally trained to be zonked OUT whenever she gets in the car. Is that good or bad? I know some of you are probably totally shocked that I took my brand-new baby to places where there could possibly be germs. Don't worry- I was totally paranoid about it the entire time. I'm sure my in-laws got a kick out of that. It was a lot of fun to be with Steve and Marsha... THANKS for showing us a wonderful time. We loved it!
Then we hopped in the car and started driving to Palmyra, NY. On the way I saw REAL-LIFE AMISH people. That has always been a dream of mine. Oh, how I wanted to stop and have a one-on-one Barbara Walters interview with them, but there was no time.
We then went directly to the Sacred Grove. This is somewhere I have ALWAYS wanted to visit. It was so peaceful and beautiful. What a testimony builder it was. I am so thankful for the Faith of Joseph Smith and the restored Gospel. It was especially neat to be there with my husband and Whitney. I am so thankful for Eternal Families. Whitney was SO good at the Sacred Grove. She woke up temporarely for these pictures, and then fell right back to sleep. Such a good little girl.

Wow. That looks like a fun trip. I am glad that Whitney was happy for you, being a mom is fun isn't it.
That is awesome you got to go all those places!!! I did a trip like that with my family a few years back and I remember all the feelings I had as I looked at your pictures -- i esp. loved teh sacred grove too -- and i am always amazed that whenever i see people's pictures it looks exactly as i imagined - with the sun coming through the trees - so beautiful and green and brings back so many good memories! I love that place -- and what a good baby!!! We have a good little traveler too -- if you guys ever want to take another trip and come to VA and the DC stuff -- come stay with us!!! we would love to have you!
What a fun trip. I picked mom and dad up at the airport last night, and they said that they had a great time. I wish I could have been there to cuddle the little baby. I love her little bed in the hotel. You could have saved a lot of money that way... you don't even need a crib.
Krista... I was meaning to call you on Saturday. I hope that you had a good birthday. You got to love the CHEESE CAKE FACTORY...
One more thing that I forgot...Krista you look good. I am so jealous. You are smaller then me again, and you just had a baby. Way to go...You will have to tell me your secret.
what a trip! How awesome! I love the pic of Whitney at the sacred grove... she has the funniest expression on her face! Like she can't believe she woke up for a picture, of all things!
What a fun trip! That's so great that you have such a good baby. I've been to all of those places a long time ago but I would love to go back because the feeling there is so special.
Krista...I am very glad that you got to see all of our favorite places, but am so sad that we didn't get to see you when you were right here where we live. You guys will have to come back up here to see the pagaent and hang out. Whitney is so sweet and cute!!!
Ohhh, I'm jealous you visited all those places! I for one am not judging you on the five week old thing, we flew from England to Utah with Oliver when he was six weeks old. I think we live close to where you used to live. 900 e 300 s...good times.
Oh this brings back so many memories. I love this place! There is such a special spirit there. I don't know about you but I felt like I knew so much more about church history from that trip. Cute baby! I love the sleeping in a drawer thing.
That is a really neat trip to take I loved it when we went! I am glad whitney did really good with it!
What a fun trip you had!! I'm so glad Whitney was a good traveler. They are pretty portable at that age. :)
Your first family trip with Whitney! How cute!
Actually-I was thinking you were being a good new mom for taking Whitney on such a long trip. It's good for newborns to be moved around a bit in the beginning. I wish I had done that more with Katelyn, but I was too scared.
Looks like you guys had a blast! We took Camilla to Wahington DC when se was 2 1/2 months old. Very nerve racking. I worried about the germs and stuff too. The picture of the drawer is so funny. It reminded me of our flight to DC. Read eye flight, so when Camilla went to sleep, we used the food try as a crib. It worked great! Take care!
Ps I just tagged Krista on my blog.
Your baby Whitney is so cute!!!! It's been awhile since i've checked your blog, last time I checked you were still prego! Congrats to all of you!
Oh, I'm jealous! What a cool trip. Uh. Your baby is gorgeous! And Krista, you look like you've never had a baby!
Palmyra holds a special place in our hearts...where it all started. You look fab-o Krista, and Bart seems so happy with that baby- he is always smilling and beaming. What a fun trip!
Wow, you're pretty popular. 17 comments. Really cute pictures. Looks like you had a fun trip. I'm so envious of all the green! P.S. every time I go to the post office (I went again yesterday) I think of the stupid memory card. Sorry!
HI Krista - I am just catching up and wanted to say congratulations!! Whitney is so beautiful! Looks like you had a great trip to NY. I'm so happy for you. Oh, and she shares her birthday with my Avery!
