Grandparents

Whitney doesn't get to see her grandparents very often as we live far away from our families. But, I thought I do a special post of some pictures of Whitney and her grandparents. We miss you and wish we could see you more often!

Three generations.. Grandpa Steve, Bart, Whitney and Grandma Marsha

She LOVED being held and talked to by him!

Cousins

When we were in Seattle for Christmas break, Whitney had her first dose of social interaction with her cousins. She LOVED it! Her girl cousins were giving her lots and lots of attention, and she soaked it all in. Little Emily, who's 4-years-old, but not much bigger than Whitney just loved to hold and cuddle her. From the minute I picked her up from a nap, until she went down, Emily wanted to hold, Baby Whitney. Here are some pictures of almost all the girl cousins. (We missed you Brooklyn!! You'll have to come next time and arm wrestle Whitney for the squeaky crib!)Emily and Whitney

Hair

I guess many 5 month old babies don't have hair quite like Whitney does. I was never really fascinated by her hair, until recently, when it started doing some crazy things. For instance, this morning when I awoke to Whitney 'talking' to herself, I looked over (by this point in the morning, she's in my bed) to see Whitney's hair literally standing on end. If I hadn't been so sleep-deprived (yes, sleeping is still an issue, but that's a whole different post) I would have burst out laughing. I did get a chance to snap a few pictures.

Another interesting thing Whitney's hair does is stick out on the left side. It's this long piece of hair that sometimes curls, sometimes sticks straight out and is mostly very noticeable. I'm not quite sure what to do with it, just yet-- but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Here she is with it sticking out.. she's in a darling dress given to Whitney by her Aunt Juliana.

One day, she did sit still enough for me to put in a little clip. I thought it was so cute. I did start wondering if she would yank it out and put it into her mouth, so I decided I better take it out unless I was watching her like a hawk.

Now for the slick look...
Whitney's hair can get so cute and curly in the tub, but when you poor water over her head it goes straight. She doesn't even mind if the water goes all over her face, either!

So there you have it. I got some good pictures of her big, beautiful eyes in those pictures as well. Whitney also has a little tooth poking out of her bottom gum. Bart couldn't be more proud. She won't let me get a good picture of that one, yet- but when she does, I'll be sure to post.

Rice, Rice, Baby!

Whitney is starting solids. She seemed to like the rice cereal we gave her. This video is a little long but we'd have to re-download it to make it shorter.... so just push stop when it gets boring for you. We took Whitney to her 4 month check up a little late. (She's almost 5 months... hey, we were on vacation.) She weighs 15 lbs 4 oz (75%) and is 24 inches long (25%). That's my short, chubby baby! Time zone traveling is not easy for the three of us. After a long week of night wakings, she seems to be going down and staying down a little easier. Each night is a new adventure. Wish us luck!

Bishopp's Rockin' Christmas Eve Party

It ain't Christmas Eve at the Bishopp house without some sort of great sip-sip-mingle-mingle and karaoke night. For our Christmas Eve festivities, we had a little game we played. A person got up and had to lip sync to a song of my choice. I don't know why I didn't get pictures of everyone, but here are three of my favorites. Dad sang "Holly Jolly Christmas" cowboy style, Shawna sang, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" Mariah Carey style and Mom sang "Santa Baby" Katy Bishopp style. It was priceless.

Don't you wish you could have seen it live? Don't worry, I'll be posting these performances on YouTube soon. Just kidding, Mom.

Christmas Bells

This post is dedicated to Andrea Zimmer Bell and her funny hubby Casey. We had a little high school reunion at their BEAUTIFUL home.... speaking of reunions.... KR 1999 reunion is on October 2nd. Mark your calendars and start your diets NOW!

Thank you for such a fun time. Stacey, we missed you! Don't worry, I'll be back this fall.

Casey, this picture is for you. I would like to draw the world's attention to this piece of furniture that Casey built. He's got mad wood working skills.

Before we left, we had to put Whitney in her car seat. This girl is a light sleeper and it woke her up. I don't know if any pictures can better define tired more than the following:

Gingy Houses

Bart's family has a great tradition of making and decorating Gingerbread houses. Marsha (Bart's mom) goes all out and bakes, cuts and hot glues the houses together. I don't know how she does it all. We missed out on the Paxtons' Gingy house decorating this year because we live so far away. I decided that we would decorate gingy houses while we were in Washington at my parents' house. We bought the kits and extra candy because I am too sleep deprived to bake all of that gingerbread. I decorated my house with my sister, Cara. For this being a Paxton family tradition, Bart wasn't all that interested in decorating... I didn't mind because he took care of Whitney and got some great pictures.
My brother, Stephen, didn't want to hot glue his house together. He and my mom used burned sugar. Let's just say that they took the "burned" part a bit too far. The kitchen was filled with smoke. Cara got mad because we had to open all the windows and it was FREEZING! The next picture is of Bart covering Whitney's face when he smelled the smoke. I'm sure I said something like, "Get her out of here.. I don't want her lungs turning black!"

Honey & PaPa John

People may think it rather strange that I don't call any of my grandparents 'Grandma' or 'Grandpa.' My dad's parents are known as Honey & PaPa John. My mom's parents are Re & Monty. As we were in Seattle for our Christmas vacation, we got to go over and visit with Honey and PaPa John. It was so fun to be at their warm, cozy, and festive home. When we first arrived, Whitney had a major explosion in her Sunday dress. Honey was sweet to wash out her onesie and hold her while we waited for the laundry. It was so fun to see you both! We love you!
We also got to go see them on the evening of the BYU bowl game. It was a terribly sad evening for two reasons:
1. BYU lost big time
2. There was a HUGE storm that night.

On the other hand it was a fun night for two reasons.
1. We got to see Honey
2. We got to see PaPa John

My Baby Dress

When Whitney was born, my mom came to visit. She brought with her a little dress that I wore when I was a baby. Before we left on our Christmas break, I thought I should put it on Whitney and take a couple of pictures. I knew we'd be gone for a month, and it might not fit her when we came back. I think she looks stunning in it. Okay, so stunning isn't the word- but she's pretty cute in that little blue dress.
