Looking Up

It seems just as the weather is starting to get better, so are things around here.   Life is a bit more normal.  No, MacKay's not sleeping much better, but I think I'm getting used to it.

Whitney is her normal sass-a-frass self.  She spends her days imagining that she's anything from Mary Poppins (that was this afternoon) to a baby who wants to be wrapped up.  Sometimes when I'm sitting on the couch, nursing my baby, she will just run around the house.  Literally.  She just runs.

She changes her mind about, oh, every five seconds as to what "game, thing, chore" she wants to do next.  Most often it's begging for friends.

She loves to read Fancy Nancy books as of late.  I crack up when out of the blue she'll say things like,
"Ooh La La, my family is posh!"  (Straight out of the book- she has the whole first book memorized.  It's pretty cute when she reads it and turns the pages.)
Today when she was in her room by myself I overheard her saying,
"Bonjour Butterfly!!"  (Also straight out of a book.)
The teacher in me is overjoyed that she loves reading.  The Mom in me is even happier she likes to do it on car rides to entertain herself.
She is very particular about HOW books are held.  You must do it with your thumb and pinky over the book and the middle three fingers behind the book.  That probably doesn't make sense to you.

Whit has quite the sense of humor and loves to giggle and laugh.  She loves to say things that will make us laugh.  She was willing to put on some of MacKay's newborn clothes (pics to come on later post) just to crack me up.

She is quite snuggly.  Demands to "Go downstairs!" all the time.  Loves TV, dress up, chocolate, anything sweet really, and kiss, smooch, snuggle, squeeze MacKay at any moment she can.

Here are her GOLDILOCKS that I will be cutting soon.

Lunch time with Jadyn.  These girls bring out the best (and worst) in each other. Lately, they've been a bit fighty-fighty with each other.  Girls will be girls!

Whitney  loves to do crafts.

And LOVES to eat cake!  (Well actually, just the icing.)
Now for our little man.  Oh, he is sweet.  Just a chill baby who loves to eat and eat and eat.  He is starting to laugh out loud.  I think laughing is the cutest thing a baby can do.  He LOVES his Mamma!  Only the eyes of your little baby boy can make you feel gorgeous when you haven't washed your face, brushed your teeth or done your hair.  He doesn't care!

He's pretty content to sit and watch all the action.  Here he is in his crib that he doesn't sleep in.
(He's a swing baby!  Loves his swing.)
I feel so lucky to have such a good baby boy.  He is a smily baby who loves to sit in the water, be carried around, snuggle up to our faces.  He can still roll over even though he's got chub all over his belly.

I think he's staring at the t.v. in this picture.

Oh my little baby!  You are so cute!

Independence or Neglect?

Trying to figure out if the following behavior is a sign of independence or neglect.
By the look of her un-brushed hair, and the messy background, I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

Sorry sweetie.  Like I used to say when I was your age:
"There will be a better day to have fun."

What a difference...

A few weeks in the life of a newborn makes a lot of difference. All of a sudden clothes aren't fitting, diapers are too small and brand new babies look a lot smaller than your little guy.

Here's MacKay around 3 weeks of age:
And here he is around 9 weeks:
(Same outfit... different body!)

Growing too fast if you ask me.

2 month appointment stats:
12 pounds 8 oz (65.8%)
21.5 inches (4.8%)
head circum 38.7 cm (15.2%)

Yes, you read that correctly. I keep telling Bart that he WILL grow and it's not my fault that he's short right now. Besides, those ladies that measure them aren't super accurate, right? MacKay's pediatrician did ask if we buzz-cut MacKay's hair. No, we didn't. I did happen to rub it all off during one of his hair washes when he was about a month old. Now it's growing in quite nicely, thank you very much.

Happy to report this past Sunday (when those pics were taken) was our first as a family for all three consecutive hours since the birth of our little guy. No melt downs, 2 feedings, great lessons and so nice to be back to 'normal' life.

Planning on blessing him the 2nd Sunday of April. You're all welcome to come!

2 Months

Here he is at 2 months. MacKay went into the pediatrician for a sick visit :( this week. He weighed 12 lbs 6 oz with his clothes on. We'll find out on Monday what his "true" weight is.

We've had quite the week with MacKay being sick. Very scary when your newborn can't breathe very well. I make no excuses for being a germ-a-phobe. Having sick kids is the WORST.

Now, just look at all that chub. Don't you just want to squeeeeeeeeze him?

Get ready for these smiles:

Lots of kisses from Big Sis:

Looking forward to the weather getting warmer. I can't wait for my double jogger to get here. We ordered it online. I am dreaming of going on walks with the Neighborhood Walking Mafia Group. Yes, we do get "looks" when we're all on our stroller brigade. No, I'm not a runner these days... not even a trotter. I prefer to sweat it out with Tony Horton. Ugh. He's so annoying.

Anyway, I wish my jogger was a BOB, but that's waaaaay out of my price range. Let's see if I like my Schwinn Tourismo when it gets here. We'll see. As long as it fits in my trunk, we're good.
