A Special Sunday

When Whitney was born, my mom gave me a dress that I wore when I was her age.  This cute, light-lavender dress is so sweet.  After her shower, I showed her the special dress she'd be wearing.  Then she put it on without fighting me.  (Hallelujah!)  Here she is with her wet hair, waiting patiently at the bottom of the stairs, while Bart took her picture:

Then I started taking pictures.  Here she is wanting the "HER" keys to go in that red purse.  This girl gets something in her mind and is very determined.  I wonder where she gets that from?

Finally has them:

Next stop:  her potty.  Uh, sweetie, I think it's a little early for that special item in your hand.

Yes, I'm serious.

Okay, a couple of shots with mommy.  Please, just smile.  We are late.

Like I said:  SMILE!

Much better.

After church, we were able to take some pictures by the temple.

What a neat Sunday to wear a special lavender dress that is (almost 30 years) old!

Chatelaine Reunion... Almost

The last day Annette was here, we went on a shopping spree (sort of) and then decided to stop at La Chatelaine.  If you've been reading my blog, you may know that in high school, I was on a dance team.  We were called the "CHATELAINES."  Yes, I still often reminisce about my days of wearing spandex, leg warmers and an exercise belt.  (No, I wasn't dancing in the mid-80's, but our coaches were!) Our Chatelaine dance team was pretty awesome.  I was the third Chatelaine in my family- and Annette was the first in our family.  So when I told Annette that there was a restaurant in Ohio, called La Chatelaine, we just had to stop by.

Doing it Bishopp-Girl-Style, we didn't actually eat at the restaurant.  We just stopped by for some pictures of us next to the sign.  Classic.

So there it is.  My goal is to eat there at least one time before dental school is over.  We'll see!

Amish

On Tuesday, we decided to take a lovely, LONG drive to see the Amish.  It was a beautiful drive, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect.  Annette was just in awe of the beauty of Ohio.  She was just dying to see some 'real-life' Amish folks.  When we saw our first buggy of the trip, she started screaming and pulling out her camera to take pictures.

I think the picture above has to be my favorite of the day.  This is the most gorgeous little girl.  Isn't she just a doll?  She just looked at us as we drove by (hence the fuzzy-ness of the picture).

We first stopped in Charm at a little Amish country store.  Across the street there were horses and pigs.  Whitney loved that.

Then we went to the Yoder Farm.  Whitney fell in love with this "kiddy" and all the other farm animals.

Part of our tour consisted of riding in this buggy:

Ready for our ride.

This is the back of Ray.  He is our Amish buggy driver.  He was very nice and super friendly.

This is Annette trying to get a full Barbara Walters' interview with Ray.  She told him a little bit about our Church.  When I tried to give Ray a copy of the Book of Mormon, he liked to hear about it, but wasn't quite ready for his own copy.

I'm not sure who was more obsessed with this nursing dog-
Whitney, Annette or it's FIVE young puppies.

Whitney loved these little puppies in the barn.

We were able to take a tour of the Amish homes and the barn.  It was a lot of fun.  At the end of the tour we had the most delicious cinnamon rolls ever.  Thank you Annette for treating us!

On our tour:

Inside an Amish home:
This was the part of the tour where Whitney had enough.  See those little Amish toys?  Yeah, Whitney went to town on those as well as everything else in this 11-room house.  Then when it was all over she just wanted "frossing"  (frosting).  Can you say NAP time?

The rest of these pictures were taken by Annette on our drive home.  As soon as we left the Yoder Farm, Whitney crashed and slept for a full 20 minutes.  Ugh!  (I was hoping she'd sleep for at least 90 minutes.)  She was so sick of being in the car.

Here are some cute little Amish boys.
The one on our right gave us a scowl when he saw Annette take his picture.

It was a delightful trip.  We only got lost a few times, but that gave us an opportunity to meet some more Amish people on the way.  We even got some black-eyed susan flowers for our yard from two very sweet Amish girls.

Annette's Visit

Last week my OLDEST sister, Annette came to visit us in Ohio.  It was so much fun.  She sat in airports /airplanes for over 12 hours; leaving Phoenix at 3:30 am to arrive in Columbus on Sunday evening.

Whitney loves "AAHHH-NET" and had so much fun waking her up every morning.

On Monday we visited Bart's dental school and then went to see the Columbus Temple.
Here are some cute pics of our time:

Sand Table

A couple of weeks ago, we got this nice little sand table from our neighbors.  The kiddies love it.  Whitney is getting much better about keeping the sand in the table and not spreading it all over the concrete.  Here are some pictures of our first days with the sand table.

Jadyn, Whitney & Amelia all going to town:

After a nap, there was no time to brush her hair.  She wanted those glasses on and she went "side" to play in the sand.

Fat Lip

About 2 weeks ago, Whitney experienced her first fat lip.  We had Elisa & Gwen over.  Whitney was having a little too much fun- climbing on the yellow chair on our back patio.  All of a sudden, I heard a crash.  Poor Whit smacked her lip on the concrete.  Yes there was a lot of blood- and even more tears.  All we could do to heal the tender lip was apply an ice cream cone.  Whitney didn't seem to mind.

Look at that upper lip!
