It's a....

It was very apparent when we saw the ultrasound.  I didn't even need any help figuring out the gender.  The technicians wand slid across my belly, and I saw two legs with a little "extra something".

Yep, it's definitely a BOY!

We are so excited to meet this little guy.  He's quite the mover and I have a feeling he will shake things up quite a bit.

Daddy, Daughter Post

Here are my two my favorite people.  Whitney & Bart.  Just some random pics.  I do have another favorite, and we are going to get some black & white photos this baby on Friday.
We'll see if it's a "she" or a "he".

After nap time on a Sunday afternoon.  I'll give you one guess to who's door she's knocking...  and that grouchy face?  Nobody's answering.

Bart working on his dentures and eating popcorn.  Ironic?

Just a favorite summer treat:

Bart's newest toy:

Whitney making eating the frosting for the peanut butter fingers:

This is the best (darn) band in the land.  OSU band tryouts.  Quite entertaining actually.  We watched them during one of Bart's soccer games.  This turf field is made just for the band.  See those boys doing Chatelaine dance moves in the front?  They are trying out to be the drum major.  Sort of hilarious to watch.

And there's my man playing soccer.  Sorry, no action shots. :(

Happy 2nd Birthday, Whitney!

Yesterday my baby turned 2 years old.  And what a big girl she is!  Apparently the difference was noticeable by one of the ticket-takers at the zoo.  She asked, (and they NEVER ask!) "Is she under 2?"  I said, "Today's her birthday."

Whitney woke up to a house decorated in pink streamers and balloons.  She was so excited and kept saying, "Balloons!  Cool!  Pretty!"

When we asked her "Who's birthday is it?"
She'd respond, "Whitney's birthday!"
Then we'd ask, "How old are you?"
And she teasingly responded, "Three months!"

Oh sweetie.  Already lying about your age?

After our walk, we suited up and headed out to Zoombezi Bay.  What better way to spend a birthday?  I'll be honest:  I'd much rather be pregnant in a swimsuit basking in a kiddie pool full of urine, than in labor and recovery.

 2 years old is DREAMY!!!

Here's Lexie, Whitney & Jadyn ready to head down the big turtle slide.

Whitney loves to "swim" in the water:

After we headed home and had a nice long nap, Whitney woke up to meet her Princess Cinderella Cake in the fridge.  I've never seen her so enthralled with something so plastic and junky.  (The Barbie is from the dollar store.)

Here she is.  Yes, Whitney believes in love at first sight.

Wow.  If only we could all look just like a Barbie.. Whitney would be in heaven.

After she couldn't keep her fingers out of the cake and kept crawling up on the table to touch her Princess cake, I sent her and Bart to the grocery store to buy some ice cream while I made her favorite dinner of homemade mac and cheese.  (Recipe courtesy of Andrea-- as well as the following tradition...)

We took pictures of Whitney on her 2nd Birthday in front of our house:

Last year our little girl looked like this:

And she's all grown up:

Then we had some friends over to celebrate and party like a princess:

Opening presents!  Whitney gave the best expressions with each gift she opened.  I wish I had captured all the faces on my camera...

Help from friends:

I love this apron that Brittany made for Whitney.  From the back, doesn't she look like a total Mormon Mama making a roast after church on Sunday?  Yes, she loves her new plastic shoes.

This is my favorite:  Girls being girlie!!!

Cute Ellie!

Happy Birthday, Whitney!

Underneath the table as their eating ice cream and cake.

Yummy!

Dance party.  Shake it girls!  Whitney loves her princess pajamas and refuses to take them off.

Ready for bed and getting ready to sleep next to"ghetto Barbie" as Bart calls her.
Whitney had a very special 2nd birthday and really knew how to party hard.

Just for old time's sake...
Here she is one year earlier at her b-day bash:

Happy Birthday, Whitney June.
We love you!

Summer Fun

Ever since I was in elementary school, it was about this time of year I started having the "back to school"bug.  It was all mental, of course.  I would be nervous, excited, anxious and everything-in-between about going back to school.  Luckily, since I've retired from teaching, I haven't had those feelings.  I'm sure they'll return when Whitney heads off to school.  As for now, this time of year is just great.  Long Summer days, late afternoon naps, early morning walks, playing at the park, heading to the zoo (and the BAY), a popsicle on the porch and watching Daddy's soccer games.

AHHHH.  If life could be this lovely all year long.. ...
