Sunglasses

I've been taking Whitney on a lot of walks/runs lately.  Although she loves being outside, she doesn't like the sun in her eyes.  Sometimes she would just cover her face with a blanket instead of looking around.  I felt so bad for her!  She couldn't even enjoy the walk.  So, Bart and I decided to buy her some sunglasses.  I didn't know how she would feel about them... but it turns out:
She LOVES them!!

Here are some shots with her and her fancy sunglasses.  I hope she doesn't hate them anytime soon.  It seems like she changes her mind very quickly.

Nu-Uh.

Shake it, baby!
Whitney's learning how to shake her head no.  I'm not sure if this should make me excited or not.     Here she is at meal time.  As you can see, Whitney really gets into her food.  As my mom would say- She's having the "full experience." That includes spreading the sweet potatoes all over her thighs and my hands.  I wish I could have gotten her sneeze on video.  One minute she had a big bite in her mouth, the next it was all over me.

Seven Months

March 19th marked Whintey's seventh month.  It's hard to believe my baby is getting so old!  Her personality is really starting to show.  Whitney LOVES other babies.  She is completely enthralled by anyone who is about the same size as she is.  When Whitney sees the other babies, she will try her best to communicate with them by saying, "Ah! Ah! Ah!" and then spitting out her tongue and making a noise. She tries so hard to touch other kids with her hands.... but I am too afraid that she'll scratch their little faces.  How can she tell that they are her same age?  I have no idea.
Things Whitney loves to do at this age are:
-Copy just about any noise that we make.  She especially likes to play this game with Bart.  She loves to "YELL!!!" and spit out her tongue.  Whitney likes to do this when it is quiet and she is in sacrament meeting.
-Laugh.  She gets giddy whenever it is getting near to bedtime.  She will laugh at just about anything we do.
-Say, "DA-DA".  I know she's not really saying, "Da-da" but it's nice to pretend that she knows what she's saying.  She likes to do it in response to us saying, "Da-da" so it is very fun when Bart comes home from school.
-Lately, she's been shaking her head in response to us shaking ours.  She is becoming a very cute copy-cat.  (I guess we better watch what we do!)
-Whitney loves to sit and play with her toys.  She is careful to examine EVERYTHING in her hands.
-Whitney likes to watch Baby Einstein.  She is like Pavlov's dog when she hears the TV click "on."  She immediately turns her head to the television screen and waits until she sees what is on.  She is not a fan of the news or any type of show just showing grown ups talking.  She does, however, love any cartoon, sports game or Sesame Street/ Barney type of show.  (I suppose she gets this from Bart.)
-Our dolly is a good little eater, and loves squash, peaches, pears, green beans, sweet potatoes.  These are all mixed with oatmeal.  Her new favorite thing to do is get really, really dirty by smashing everything in her hands.  She really likes the texture of the food and likes to put it in her hair, on her pants and all over her highchair.
-After Whitney eats, she likes her routine of sitting in the bathroom sink to wash her hands, feet and face.  She loves to play in the water and splash.  After she's all clean, I take her to the light switch and she turns off the light.
-Puppy is still her favorite sleeping companion.  I'm thinking I need to buy a couple of "back ups" because she had already done a number to it's paws, ears and tail.
-Story time is a favorite.  She loves to slap her hands on the pages and look at the pictures.
-Whitney's face lights up when she sees her own reflection in the mirror.  She's basically her own best friend.  What a self-confident little girl!!
Happy 7th month, Whitney!  We love you.

Fancy Camera

Yesterday I was just playing around with our camera.  We bought a new one right before Whitney was born because our old camera was starting to act up a little bit.  By "act up," I mean that all of a sudden it would totally NOT work.  We bought a new one after doing some research.  I knew that I wanted a Canon-- and they had a few different ones at Costco.  We decided on the Canon Powershot SD850 IS.  I know, it probably means nothing to you, either. Yes, I really wanted one of those Canons that are like a thousand dollars- but we decided to be more reasonable and get a nice reliable camera.

So- anyways, back to my original story:
I was playing around with the camera and I saw this feature on it called: ACCENT.  Being my curious self, I played with it for a couple of minutes.  So, it takes pictures in black and white and only shows the color you choose.  I put an orange flower on Whitney's head and I took these cute little pictures.  She wasn't in the best of moods, so I had to put on a Baby Einstein to calm her down so I could get SOME cute pictures.   No, it's not my computer- it's the camera.  Pretty cool, huh?
I guess I should read the manual to see what other fancy things my camera can do.
She was not happy before I turned on Baby Einstein.  But I wanted to show you her little teeth on the bottom.  She LOVES to bite me with those.  She is really actually part Vampire.  I think it may have been from those Twilight books I read.

Half a Year!!!

I can't believe how quickly time has passed. Our little Whitney turned 6 months old on the 19th of February. WOW! She is getting to be such a big girl. I was a little sad when she turned 6 months old because her 5th month had been my favorite (so far)! It seemed like during her 5th month she was so happy and giggly and content. I could sit with her anywhere and she didn't try to wiggle away or grab very many things. She loved to cuddle with me and Bart. She also got really good at eating her squash and green beans. It seems like the week she turned 6 months old, she turned into a sassy little girl who wants to explore the world. Whitney is reaching for things and wants to get moving. It's sad to see her get frustrated when the toys are just barely out of her reach. We keep cheering her on- she'll get there soon enough... for now, I'm enjoying her being less mobile. She still loves to laugh and we still love to hear it.

Whitney's current favorite things are:
Giggling
Her swing
Rides in the car
Her activity mat & toys
Her little puppy
Stroller rides
Baby Einstein
"Talking"
Being around other babies
Cuddles
Feeling Daddy's wiskers
Biting her mommy
Grabbing at our faces
Pulling out her binky
Rocking in our arms

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Little Miss Whitney!
We love you!

The next few were taken ON her 1/2 Birthday:

Grabbing those feet!

She loves to "stand" up on her feet!

What? No cake? I thought this was a 1/2 B-day?
Squash will have to do, once again.

The other day it was finally warm enough to go on a short walk. We still bundled up our baby. Although you can't tell from the picture- she loved it.
