A couple of weeks ago, as a family of (almost 5) 4, we took are vacation to California. We were all SO excited about this trip. I think Bart was the most excited out of anyone. He's been working hard lately- and a break was MUCH needed. We left on Sept. 28 and spent the night in St. George, UT at Meg's Parent's Condo. It was so nice of them.
Then we drove 6 hours to get to Remmet Avenue. A place I haven't been in 8 LONG years. I can't even believe it's been THAT long. Shame on me.
It was just how I remembered it. There's something so special about a Grandma's house. And Re & Monty's is no exception. I love everything about their house starting from the orange kitchen, the big bookshelf that lights on the top, the green bathtub, the comfortable TV room and the clock that's lost it's tock. I hope it never changes. It was so good to see my grandparents again. I love them so much.
Whitney was asleep when we arrived on Saturday afternoon. (**Bubba slept exactly 5 minutes in the car after having about 8 hours of sleep the night before... it was quite the experience.)
I took many pictures from around their house. Shouldn't we all just have pictures of our Grandma's house? Here are a few:
Mom, Monica, Anne and Albert as kids. Love this picture.
I love this big wooden shelf. It has a light on the top-- I'm glad it's still there.
The front door. The mail slot always fascinated me when I was little.
Sunday morning the kids and I discovered the backyard together. Lots of memories from my childhood back here. That green mossy stuff is very squishy. My kids loved it too.
Perfect squares for hop-scotch.
Monty was a tired-man.
Whitney is showing Re how to work a mini-DVD player.
Whitney loved being there. She had a great time discovering the backyard with MacKay. They both were obsessed with the green chalkboard. Love the chalkboard. She was designing "roller coasters" on it and saying we were going on them at Disneyland.
On Saturday evening we went out to eat with Anne's family. We saw her beautiful house. Here's a picture from after dinner:
Back to Re and Monty's house for some belaxing in the TV room.
Here's Bart and Re making something in the kitchen:
I almost forgot: the green tub!
Bart took good care of the kids so I could talk with Re & Monty. Here they are just before bed. Bart slept with Bubba and I slept with Whitney.
Sunday night, Jill (my cousin) came over and we went through old family genealogy books. It was fun that Monty came out of his room so we could talk.
I love this picture. Here is Re feeding MacKay. He was getting yogurt on himself and being messy.
Me and Monty going through old photo albums.
On Monday morning, we left their house bright and early (while Re was still sleeping!) I love this house.
Thanks for the fun visit. Let's see you again really soon!! We love you both!
